The Authority has been informed by the Telecom operators that there has been a major outage in IPLC and IP Transit (both link from Tata Communications Limited) to both Singapore and London, due to which our Internet services are affected.
According to their report, there has been a cable cut in the PGCIL OPGW segment, 29 kilometers from Kolkata to Jeerat (outside Bhutan). The PGCIL fault restoration team (FRT) has been dispatched to the fault location and their estimated time of arrival (ETA) is approximately 30 minutes.
Currently the internet available is through the back up Airtel international link for both operators which is functional but congested.
The Telcos are in coordination with TATA O&M team for restoring the link failure.
While we are actively working with them to expedite the service restoration process, we seek understanding from the general public as well.
