The Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority (the Authority) being the licensing agency for ICT and Media Sector as well as Places of Entertainment, needs to obtain and maintain the database of its licensee. With the growth and development of the sector, the annual growth of the data had also been increased. Online licensing System was launched in 2015 to ease the customers to apply and renew ICT facility and service licences online. The system is developed using PHP, JAVA for application and MYSQL for database storage.
However, we saw very few customers applying online and could not meet our intended purposes of reaching to the large number of customers without them visiting our agency. The Authority then planned to enhance the existing Online Licensing System to manage the data efficiently and allows users to perform multiple tasks with ease using single software applications. In 2017, we reviewed the requirement and updated the system to facilitate the sector development as well as for easy monitoring of its licensees. Today, the information can be captured manually in the system for the walked-in customers and generate reports to be used in our statistics which was not possible earlier.
